Panama Private Interest Foundation (PIF) is most commonly used for sheltering assets under the one central entity managed by its own Founder, by-laws and banking system.
Similar to a trust, PIF assets represent holdings controlled separately from the assets of the Founder. However, unlike the trust, the PIF can hold anything, with any value while maintaining complete anonymity without registering its beneficiaries or Founder/Protector.
The PIF is highly recommended for liability reasons. Even though there is a high degree of protection within the corporate structure, the foundation offers that extra level of protection.
It is worth noting that most situations do not warrant the use of a PIF, however, they are invaluable when used properly.
